Choosing Wedding Lingerie
What Underwear Should I Wear On My Wedding Day?
Most brides spend large sums of money on their wedding dress, and planning for this begins months ahead of the big day. It’s so important to look fabulous for the most important day of your life and so that’s perfectly understandable. But the one things that is often forgotten is what wedding lingerie will you wear?
So first and most important of all here’s our number one consideration.
Golden Rule
If you ignore everything else in this article (and we really hope you don’t!) here’s one thing that you should do. Buy your bridal lingerie at the same time as your wedding dress. In fact if you are going for a dress fitting, where you will be measured up and the dress tailored to fit, you really MUST have your wedding lingerie with you. It’s the only way that you will ensure you have the correct lingerie that complements your wonderful new wedding dress.
A Strapless Basque from Dominique would be a good place to start!
Here’s a few other points that you may wish to consider:
During the day
Wedding Lingerie – Remember that your underwear should not be seen and it’s primary role to is to shape and silhouette your figure. So best to avoid frills and ruffles at this stage. There’s plenty of time for that later!
Wedding Dress – Depending on your choice here’s a few pointers.
a) Low cut neckline – Think about shapewear that will support your bust to avoid any mishaps. Maybe even try sticky tape to keep everything in place!
b) Strapless gown – Obviously choose a strapless bra or even better would be basque with boning shapes your waist.
c) Backless Dress – This is now a popular choice and so if that‘s the way you decide to go choose a low back bra such as this one from Dominique:
d) Slim Fitting – If you choose a figure hugging dress that highlights your slim shape make sure your bra complements this. A one piece Bodysuit could well be a good choice here but make sure you choose one with slimming capabilities that smooths your tummy and will cinch you waist. Alternativley maybe try this Bustier from Dominique:
Shapewear – Girdles and Body Shapers are much lighter today than ever but they still help to shape your silhouette and remove those visible panty lines. So if you‘re looking for that perfect smooth hourglass figure in your wedding photos, then plus size shapewear is defintely worth a look.
Colours – White is not always the obvious choice! Quite often ecru or ivory will look just as good and often beige or nude that match your natural skin tone can work equally well. So be prepared to think outside the box!
Accessories. Well undoubtedly you’ll want a garter for those must have risqué wedding photos! But you’ll also probably want a Garter Belt and Rago make a beautiful Plus Size Suspender Belt which actually shapes you as well, so give that a try.
Wedding Night
So it’s time to change into something a little more naughty and have some fun with your new husband!
Lingerie – Forget practical and discreet, now is the time for sexy! Think about a Bra & Panty set or maybe even a sexy one piece Teddy. This is not the time for white or any of those sensible colours, this is the time for classic skimpy black lingerie or if you feel really outrageous, try red! That will light a fire in the groom for sure.
Bridal Nightwear – A Plus size Babydoll is ideal for your choice of sleepwear. Pretty, delicate and so sexy.
Robe – A satin or lace robe is a ‘must-have’ for your wedding night. Not too long and it should be very revealing.
Summary
There are so many choices when it comes to choosing your wedding lingerie, whatever you decide, be sure to make the whole day memorable and exciting for you, your groom plus your family and friends.
